New image of HTC’s first Android One phone leaks

HTC is next to join Android One. The Taiwanese company’s first phone for the program isn’t official just yet, but it’s been surfacing in multiple leaks over the last two months. It’ll be the U11 Life, known internally as the Ocean Life, that puts HTC’s name on a mid-range device with software managed by Google.

A new leak from Roland Quandt reveals the U11 Life’s design from nearly every angle. He’s obtained a single image that shows the front, back, and side of the phone. And, as the name suggests, HTC’s U11 Life will look similar to the U11.

Shown in the image above is allegedly the U11 Life in Brilliant Black. While HTC’s design language is clearly present, you’re not going to find its software overlay. HTC Sense is missing because all Android One phones run stock Android.

HTC’s logo is stamped on the back, and the Android One logo is also there.

The U11 Life won’t be unlike other Android One phones internally. Its specifications are expected to be on the modest side, which is what Google wants. Android One phones should be powerful enough for everyday activities and remain on the affordable side. HTC’s U11 Life is said to have a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS LCD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630, 16MP cameras on the front and back, a 2600mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner, IP67 certification, and Android 8.0 Oreo with Edge Sense.

There’s a launch event being hosted by HTC on November 2, and that’s when the U11 Life could debut alongside the U11 Plus. Perhaps HTC wants to introduce new phones ranked above and below the U11 to give consumers more choice if they’re interested in the brand.

Expect the HTC U11 Life to cost around $399 in the United States.
