Welcome to another edition of our weekly roundup of the biggest newsmakers in the world of technology. The hottest news this week was the  India launch of Xiaomi Redmi 5A , which comes in two variants and will become available on Mi.com and Flipkart from December 7. The Redmi 5A price in India is Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage variant, and Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage option.  Xiaomi  is offering Rs. 1,000 discount on the 2GB RAM model of the handset to the first five million buyers, bringing down the price to Rs. 4,999. On top of this,  Jio is providing cashback of Rs. 1,000  to customers who buy either variant of this handset. As for the specifications, the  Redmi 5A  has a 5-inch HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, and a 3000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver backup of up to 2 days. This was a week with a couple of big launches and one very welcome price cut - the  Xiaomi Redmi Note 4  got a permanent price cut bringing the starting price under Rs. 10,000. Read on to know more about all the news you can use from the week that was. The Redmi Note 4 is  the most popular phone in India  by some estimates, offering  great value for money , and it's gotten cheaper with a permanent price cut of Rs. 1,000 on its starting price of Rs. 10,999, bringing the phone into  the sub-Rs. 10,000 category . That's for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant, while the upper end variant with 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage is now available at Rs. 11,999. The new price is available via both Mi.com and  Flipkart . A month after the  Diwali cashback  offer,  Reliance Jio cashbacks made a comeback  this week – with a lot more benefits than before. The company is offering cashback and vouchers worth up to Rs. 2,599 on recharges of Rs. 399 and more, with greater benefits for new users than existing customers. Of course, you need to buy the Rs. 99 Prime subscription to become eligible for the freebies.  Jio  will give vouchers worth Rs. 400 (eight vouchers of Rs. 50), wallet cashback, and discounts on Ajio.com, Reliancetrends.com, and Yatra.com. The offer started on Friday, November 10 and will be up for grabs till November 25.
