The Redmi Note 5, successor to the massively popular Redmi Note 4, was recently spotted in the wild and one of the highlights of the phone in question was an edge-to-edge bezel-less screen. A new report now suggests that the alleged Redmi Note 5 may be powered by Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon 636 processor. The Snapdragon 636, based on 14nm manufacturing process, supports full screen devices with a FHD+ resolution which means Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 may make use of this functionality. Since the Snapdragon 636 is expected to start shipping in November, phones powered by the chipset may hit markets by early next year. There have been rumours that there will be two versions of the Redmi Note 5, one with a MediaTek processor for China and another with a Qualcomm processor for markets like India.
